Panelist – Women’s Electoral Activism in 2018
Leslie Berliant is a lifelong progressive activist and political junky. She worked on her first Presidential election at the age of six, when she went door to door with her parents in support of George McGovern. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and History, with certificates in Dance, and Peace and Justice Studies. She also holds two Master’s Degrees in Women’s Studies and in Comparative History.
She recently ran for County Legislature in Otsego County, New York, is the Political Operations Chair for the Otsego County Democrats, and currently works as the Political Director for Congressional candidate Brian Flynn in NY19, one of the most closely watched and hotly contested House races in the country. She is part of an all female executive team at the Flynn Campaign and their campaign will be the first in New York to unionize with the Campaign Workers Union.
Previously, she was a Regional Coordinator for MoveOn.org and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Code Blue, an organization devoted to electing progressive candidates to state legislatures.
In addition to her political life, she is the founder and owner of WB Consultancy, where she works with individuals and organizations on creativity, career and organizational transition. She is a published writer, poet and journalist, and teaches Writing from the Deep Voice teleclasses as well as running creativity and writing retreats around the world. Her next retreat, Changing the Story, will be held April 6th-9th in Cooperstown, NY. She is the proud mother of two exceptional women and lives in upstate New York with her husband and their two black cats, Buster and Buster.
